THE WEBLOG FROM PARADISE
10-7-2005 Life in paradise. Today
it's been great, no rain, and lots of tennis early this morning. I'm a
writer, you could say that I'm the Kitty Kelley of the Virgin Islands.
I wrote a book about corruption in the Virgin Islands, no law suit yet.
I also own a company that operates an Internet based business that I
work from my home office. My office has a
view of the Charlotte Amalie Harbor. There is a great view of the sea
planes landing and taking off, near Frenchtown. Most people
complain that there is not much to do in St. Thomas. I don't know about
that, I'm busy all the time. Volunteer work is a great way to meet the
right people in the Virgin Islands. My Internet company
offers free drawing or painting workshops at our private retreat. If
you send me an E-Mail, I'll send you an invitation to our Fine Art Show
& Brunch at the retreat. Most of my clients are artists or
writers. Our company offers free lodging at our private artists and
writers retreat to our web design clients. We're all very busy
shopping for food, paint and new linens. Scrubbing, cleaning and
scrapping. My daily advice to visitors to the Virgin Islands, spend
more time at the beach, pack a lunch, take some music and something
good to read. Relax and enjoy the sun, fabulous water and friendly
people. Most writers are famous
for being poor, that is why there're so many books on budget vacation
travel. Think about the things you cherish the most; a good
conversation, great food, pleasant surroundings and peace. Take a tour of the
islands from a professional tour agent. The safari's will take you from
one end of the island to the other, for just $2.00 per person. Get on
the safari from town or the east end, you'll save a ton of money and
there is a time to take a taxi. Eat at a food truck for
great local food at a reasonable price. The portions are generous so
take your smile and don't forget to say thank you. Manners are very
important in the Virgin Islands. If you greet a person with a smile,
good day and thank you, they will do the same to you. There is no
misunderstanding, people know when they are being disrespected or
treated like servants. More later.....
10-6-2005 No tennis in paradise
for days. It's been raining for three or four days, I think. There are
three
cruise ships in today and that makes it a good day to shop in the
country. I'll visit with my friends at Beans Bytes & Web
sites, a local
Internet Cafe, it's complete with gourmet coffee and Italian
sandwiches. I will be off to Home Depot after my coffee break, we're
redecorating the retreat for my clients who will visit this season. Siting the DHL
television commercial, it seems an acceptable standard in customer
service, is lacking in places other than the Virgin Islands. I worked
at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills and Neiman Marcus in Dallas, I
know professional service. My clients are really looking forward to the
private cook and maid service in paradise. Shopping in the Virgin
Islands is very challenging, Kmart is our only department store. There
are few furniture stores, mostly on the east end. There is also a
Rent To Own on island. Yard and estate sales are good places, The
Salvation Army Thrift Store has great finds! Where ever I go I
will take my best manners and a friendly smile. Balance is important for
a stress free and happy life. We dine on China and linen,
everything is always fresh, from the bread to the fruit. Why live in
paradise with the same stress we had in the states? Move to a balanced
existence and fill your life with the things that make you happy.
People have been conditioned to believe we need to be rich or wealthy.
I think we can live richly if we know what we like and understand our
own passions. I work everyday, but I
love my work. No politics today, just shopping, painting and planning
for a better season for us all.

this site: THE WEBLOG FROM PARADISE - We need peace in The Virgin Islands. Before we can improve, each of us, we must confront and accept the truth. I enjoy very much living here in St. Thomas, but I refuse to lie and say we don't have very, very serious problems. Like most of the world, greedy corporations are trying to turn America's Paradise into a third world country. Peace be with you, Madame Samb There is a free online computer training tutorial here. A major reason given not hiring Virgin Islanders for the better jobs is a lack of computer literacy and proficiency.
